I had the same problem with Groupwise Web Access until one of the other admins applied some updates on the server. It works as it should now, with the exception of a slight spacing issue at the login screen. We are using version 6.5, but i'm not sure of the specific version after the patch. So you might want to notify your network admin.
The other option that I find very useful is to setup your Groupwise account in Mail as an imap account. I do this and I can see all of my folders in the cabinet, just as I would at work.
It IS a problem with the server.
They fixed it with Groupwise 6.5 server.
Looking forward to Brainshare in March. Hopefully they have the OS X Java client ready.
How exactly does one set Mail to check Groupwise Webaccess email? I tried entering the URL I use in Safari as the incoming and outgoing IMAP server addresses, but that doesn't seem to work. Do I need to get some information from the IT folks?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, you definitely have to contact your IT people to get the server addresses. But, once you've set it up, it's really slick. The only time I use WebAccess is when I'm away from my Mac(s).
Worked perfectly!!! Thanks.
I have experienced none of the problems that youve all listed.
1.2 is MUCH faster now with the SSL stuff, so it is less painfull.
I am just suprised that there are actually other people still using GroupStupid.... I thought we were the last...
I am a lone Mac in a sea of Windows and have suffered using Groupwise WebAccess to get email at work. If there is any info you could pass on to help me set up Mail to get work email I would love to be able to quit using the buggy Groupwise WebAccess! My problem is the IT Dept. here is pretty hostile toward Macs (they wish I would go away). So if I was armed with as much info as possible maybe I could convince them to help me. They know nothing about Macs. Any suggestions as to how or where to educate myself would be a great hint!

Newest Groupwise Client For Mac Os X
I too am a mac user in a pc environment. The good news from Novell is that they soon will have a groupwise client for OS X. It is currently in beta.
You can configure Mail to access the Novell mail server.
I'm doing this with Novell's free email service called MyRealbox with an IMAP account, and I've used a POP account in the past. The free email service is at <www.myrealbox.com> and the site includes info about configuring many PC email programs to access their Novell mail server.
While the info is for PC mail programs you just need to pop the needed info into the equivalent places in mail. For example, in Mac OS X 10.3, create a new account and add:
* Account Type: POP
* Description: whatever you want
* Email address: [email protected]
* Full Name: Joe Bloggs
* Incoming Mail Server: your company's incoming mail server (same as on a PC)
* User Name: first part of your email address excluding the '@somewhere.com'
* Password: ********
* Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): your company's outgoing mail server eg 'smtp.myrealbox.com'
That should be enough info to get the account working.

Can I installed the client 6.5.6 side with only having the 6.5.4 on the server side/backend? Will this mess anything up? I do not want to corrupt any of my GroupWise databases. GroupWise Cross-Platform 6.5 client for MAC
Hi, Has anyone tried to modify the Cross-Platform client to make the client start up by default with user name prompt and caching mode? Currently, it starts up with a password prompt and then you must hit cancel, then enter your username and choose caching mode. That's too many steps when we're trying to convince our MAC users that the GW client is the way to go. GroupWise 6.5 Macintosh Cross Platform Client
I downloaded the new GroupWise 6.5 Macintosh Cross Platform Client and installed on a few Mac OS 10.3 computers. The software seems to work well for the most part, but I am having a few problems with it. Here are my 2 main problems: 1) I can't send e-mails outside our organization. Internal e-mails work fine, but when I try to send external e-mails, they won't work. 2) The client software seems to be very slow at startup and during normal use. I will appreciate any suggestions, Thanks! > 1) I can't send e-mails outside our organization. Internal e-mails work ...
Macs & 6.5 Cross-Platform Client
Is the GW 6.5 Cross-Platform client better than the old 5.2.8 client? Does it really have more functionality and fewer problems? Any info is appreciated. Thanks. Lisa Wassgren I offer my OS X users three choices, the old 5.2.8 client running in Classic Mode, the Web Access client, and new java cross platform client. They all choose something different based on their preferences. I would say about half of the users who switched to the java client right away when it was introduced switched back to old 5.x client after a month or so. The java client doesn't support rule...

Updates for GroupWise 6.5 Linux Cross-Platform Client for Macintosh
Is there any way to get notified about updates to this program. If there's something on the Groupwise page I missed it. Thanks, Mark :-) Mark Miller wrote: > Is there any way to get notified about updates to this program. If there's > something on the Groupwise page I missed it. Well, this gets updated the same as all other GW components. That is, unless there is a 'problem' that they are trying to fix in the meantime, it will be included in the Support Packs. GroupWise 6.5.2 for Linux Cross-Platform Client on Macintosh #2
We have upgraded three users (OS X 10.3.5) to client 6.5.3 but now two of them are experiencing issues. One of them has her messages no longer displaying correctly, one message was black text on a black background, the others were unformatted plain text. Another user has had her client quit eight times in the afternoon since we upgraded her. The POA is still at 6.5.2 for the moment, but in the meantime what can we do to resolve these issues? > We have upgraded three users (OS X 10.3.5) to client 6.5.3 but now > two of them are experiencing issues. Groupwise 5.5 to Groupwise 6.5 server clients
I have a bit of problem and not sure which way I should tackle this one. I have 2 x Netware 4.11 servers, which will be upgraded to Netware 6.5 and one of these servers have Groupwise 5.5 which will be upgraded to Groupwise 6.5. The one server is being used for Groupwise archiving and currently setup for UNC for archiving, i.e. p:ab_hp, on this server I was planning on using the migration wizard as this server also holds the user data. On the 2nd server which Groupwise is running and the clients are configured for tcp/ip connectivity to the groupwise system. This server only hold...
